Justin's have fever?

Justin seems to have a fever today. We checked it with an ear thermometer and he has 37.8. This is the first time that Justin got sick. I believe this was due to his vaccine yesterday. According to his pediatrician, if it is 37.8 or higher, we should give him medicine. We gave Justin calpol immediately.

This afternoon Justin's fever went down already. Thank God! It was so fast. Justin just took Calpol 2x.

Justin's 3rd checkup

Justin had his 3rd checkup today. We arrived in the clinic at 1:45pm by then we are already 4Th on the list. The clinic was supposed to start at 2:00pm but the doctor arrived at 3:00pm. Justin's classmate is also there today. He had another vaccine, it was a 5 in 1 vaccine which cost 3,200. Justin did not cry too much today. After the needle has been pulled out from his tights, he immediately stopped crying. Vaccines are really expensive. Dra. Teldy Chua told us that the IPV vaccine next month will cost 5,000 per shot. And Justin would need 3 shots of that. Better start saving up for the vaccine.

1st year wedding anniversary

They say sweetness stops when when you get married. For I as much as I can, I like to celebrate our anniversary yearly. And continue to give gifts to Michelle. This year we celebrated our first anniversary at Chili's tomas morato. I fetch Michelle from work and had dinner. After dinner we went to City Lifestyle to have a korean foot spa. We got home at around 10:30 already. By the time we got home Justin is already sleeping.

It was a simple yet a fun and memorable day for us. Because somehow we are able to spend some time together. ( just the two of us) Before we go to sleep I gave Michelle an anniversary present which is a nokia 6120c cellphone.

Happiness is for others and not for myself

Sacrifice sacrifice sacrifice! I believe this should be something that I must learn to get used to. Sometimes situation may be unfair for no matter how kind we are to others, I doesn't mean that you'll get the same treatment in return. I guess that's really the role of a husband, sacrifice everything for your wife. Seeing her happy definitely makes me happy but sometimes I also look for the support that I was expecting to get from her. I guess I really need to start accepting these as a facts and start serving others while sacrificing myself.

I'm writing this not because I have regrets or angry. I'm writing this because I want to express what I'm feeling. I love my wife very much especially our baby. Maybe this is just one thing about changes in a married life. And this is something I have to sink in to my mind. "Happiness is for others and not for myself".

Justins first visit to Gwama

We visited Michelle's family yesterday with Justin. They haven't seen Justin for a long time and everyone misses him already. First impression from them when they saw Justin was "ang laki na nya", "ang taba nya sobra". Michelle's mom carried Justin almost the whole day because she missed Justin so much.

Our yaya was on day off that day and she got home at around 5:30pm already. When she got home she was having a headache. That night we just let her sleep and rest. Justin slept in our room on our bed. He was crying the whole night and we had a hard time sleeping. Stopped after I changed his diaper and Michelle let him sleep on his tummy.

I know it's really hard to take care of a baby. But it was very challenging and fun.

Justin's second check-up

Justin had his second check-up today. I was so excited for this day. Because I want to know Justin's weight and height. I noticed that Justin growed a lot for his cheeks are bigger.

We arrived at the clinic at around 2:30pm. The first thing we did is to weigh Justin. To our surprise Justin had a dramatic increase. From 3 kilos he now weighs 5.2 kilos. If we translate it to pounds it was from 6.6 lbs to a whooping 11.44 lbs. I was expecting Justin to increase 2 lbs only. But to our surprise he gained 5 lbs. We're so happy with his improvements. On the other hand, Justin's height increase from 49cm to 58cm. That was a 10cm increase.

Justin also had his 2nd vaccine today which was the Hepatitis B vaccine.

Justin really growed a lot in 1 month time. He becomes more adorable each day.

Popsmear and Family Planning

Michelle had her last scheduled check-up with Dra. Lety Chua today. She been very good and helpful to us for the past 10 months. While she browse through Michelle's records she told her that "Nun nag simula tayo hanggang sa manganak ka puro ka nalang takot. Kaya na chalenge talaga ako syo". At least now everybody is happy with the result. I know somehow Michelle became a stronger person.

Michelle had her first popsmear. The result will be available next week. We hope everything will be fine. Before we leave Dra.'s clinic, she gave us a quick course in family planning. She said that we are still young, it's better that we have another child after 2 years. According to Dra. Lety Chua 7 days before and after the first day of Michelle's period is safe. She suggested that we use Rhythm method, abstinence or use condom.

Justin's first pajama

It's the first time that Justin wore pajama's. He always sleep with his diaper and he's wrapped in a lampin. We have lots of old cloths and pajamas but it seems to be so big. Today we tried to let him wear the pooh shirt which was given to us during Michelle's baby shower. To our surprise, it fits well. We never imagined that it will fit Justine. Though the pajama pants is too big and we have to make it high waisted up to above Justin's stomach. Our baby is really growing very fast. And I'm so happy about it.

Second night with Justin

Last night I had a chance to sleep with Justin again. That night was different from the first one. When Justin was brought to our room, he doesn't want to sleep. No matter what you do or cuddle him, he keeps on crying. At around 12pm Michelle carried him and he was able to sleep for a while. During that time I was able to nap for a while too. But when she put him on the bed Justin started to crying again. I prepared milk and place Justin on my chest to burp. While doing that, he was able to sleep on my chest and he just stayed there for hours. At 5:30am yaya is already awake and he took Justin to his room. At that time Michelle and I was able to sleep for an hours. It was really a tyring and sleepy experience but for me, no regret at all. It's ok for me to feel sleepy the whole day as long as I was able to take care of my baby.

That morning yaya said that he just take care of Justin tonight. She pity us because we are not able to sleep last night.

Two nights of sleepless night was a tough experience. But im looking forward to take care of Justin at night. Maybe when he grows a little bit bigger so that won't be that hard to take care of him.

First sleep with Justin

I really hate it when I have colds and cough. Last week when Justin is about to go home, I have colds. Because of this, I cannot have Justin sleep with us for he might get infected. Finally after one week, I'm all ok now.

Justin slept with us last night for the first time. I really wanted to experience talking care of Justin at night. Prepare milk when he's hungry, cuddle him when he's crying and changing diapers. I was able to experience all these last night. All I can say is Im so sleepy today. Talking care of Justin is not so hard. Except that he keeps on making some noise when he sleeps. Which made me not been able to sleep well. Im worried that something bad had happen that's why he's making some noises. Talking care of a new born baby is not a joke. But for me experiencing all these happen gave me a lot of experiences. I wanted to repeat this experience tonight.

Photo shoot with Justin

We are able to take lots of photos of Justin today. Since he almost slept the whole day yesterday, we took picture of him with his 1 month old cake today. We also have our first family picture with Justin with his cake. Was able to take some pictures of Justin with his grandpa and grandma, Kathy and Sedy.

Justin's first nail cut

Today yaya rose cut Justin's finger nail. I was so mad because she did not even inform me. I was not able to take a video and photo of his first nail cut. But instead I only got a photo of his hands after cutting his nails. Though we are able to keep his first finger nails.

Justin's first month

Justin turned 1 month old today. We planned to buy a cake this evening and have some photo shoot with him. Unfortunately, when we got home, Justin is already sleeping. He was deeply asleep and no matter how you touch him, he doesn't want to wake up. It was a sad day for me, for I cannot take a picture of him today with his 1 month old cake. I waited until midnight but he is still asleep.

Will just be talking picture of Justin with the cake tomorrow.

Justin's home sweet home

I went to Michelle house early today to fetch Justin and Michelle. They are about to go home today. Everyone in our house is very excited to see Justin. We left at 10:00am and went straight to my Uncle's house before going home, for they want to see Justin. When we got home, my 2 year old niece Sophia is so excited with Justin. She keeps on saying "baby, baby, baby".

I'm sure today would be the start of something new in our lives. New routines, new responsibilities, new challenges and new exciting things to watch out for.

New yaya

Today our new yaya has arrived. Her name is Rose. She was supposed to be Justin's first yaya but she backed out for some reason. Anyway, she now back and I hope she'll stay long.

First impressions by Michelle: Rose knows how to take care of Justin. She seems to know what she is doing compared to our first yaya. According to rose, she also knows how to "hilot" baby if ever they catch cold or cough. Justin was able to sleep tightly and Rose also teach Justin how to hug a bolster while sleeping.

More milk

Michelle was able to get 6oz of milk today. She felt that her breast is becoming heavier and tighter. Justin still doesn't like to breastfeed directly. Michelle just pump the milk from her breast all the time.

2 days left and Justin will be going home. I'm so happy and excited. I would be able to be with my baby all the time. I'm sure everyone in our house is excited with Justin also. This afternoon when I got home my mom help me fix the crib of Justin. We put bedsheets and bumpers.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

Breast milk

Michelle seems to have more milk now. Her milk is dripping and her shirt is all wet. She tried eating the prolacta, the malungay capsules which were given to us when we had our lamaze classes. It seems to be very effective which is good. Definetely we will be buying more.

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

Justin's first bath

Justin turned 2 weeks old today. He also took his first bath. Michelle's mom was the one who took a bath of the baby. It's good that Justin did not cry while talking a bath. He seems to like water. Here are some of the shots taken by Michelle.

Sunday, October 19, 2008

Im learning to carry and feed justin

Today I spent the whole day at Michelle's house. I tried to learn how to carry and feed Justin. At first Justin keeps on crying. I can't seem to find a good position on how to carry him. When ever I carry Justin he will cry. But when Michelle get Justin, he will stop crying. After some tries, somehow I was able to carry Justin without crying. But I know I still need more practice to be able to master the skill.

Bellybutton finally fall off

Justin's Bellybutton finally fall of today. It was small, hard and black. I did not expect that a bellybutton will look like that. I was able to see his bellybutton while it is still connected with Michelle. We will be keeping it and place it in the baby book.

Justin's first check-up

Michelle had to go back to her Ob-gyn today for a checkup. Dra. Lety Chua checked her wound. It's good that everything is ok. Michelle's weight went down from 160 lbs to 145 lbs. We will be having a checkup again next month and Michelle will have a pop smear.

Today is the first checkup of Justin also with Dra. Teldy Chua. We arrived at her clinic at 12:00pm and waited for her til 2:30 before she arrived. The long wait was ok for her clinic really starts at 2:00pm. Her secretary is also very friendly and talkative. The clinic was very nice and clean. When you look out of the windows you'll see wack-wack golf course.
Justin gained a lot from 1 week. His weight was 6lbs before but now he is 6.6lbs. His height was 48cm and now it was 49.5cm. While his head circumference increased from 33cm to 35cm. Today was also Justin's first vaccine. It was a BCG vaccine on his left buttock. Justin was also required to have sunlight exposure though his color is already ok.

Saturday, October 11, 2008

Michelle's first breast milk

Michelle was able to produce her first breast milk today. She was able to extract colostrum from her 2 breast. Justin doesn't want to suck her breast that is why she just used a breast pump for extracting the milk before giving it to Justin. They say colostrum is very important to babies because it has lots of anti-bodies. Hopefully Justin will grow up strong.

Justin Maven Lee was born

Justin Maven Lee was born today October 7, 2008 at exactly 7:29pm. In Lunar calendar it was September 9, 2008. He was born under the zodiac sign of Libra and year of the rat. Justin was born 6.06lbs (2740 grams) and 48cm height. Head circumference is 31.5cm while the chest circumference is 30cm. His blood type is AB. Michelle was in her 38 week and 5 days gestation. The delivery was OFE.

It all started at midnight of October 6, 2008. It was 2am when Michelle woke up and pee. When she get back to bed, she told me that she is having contractions. After almost an hour of having contraction, I timed and listed it down. It was every 3 minutes contraction. Since it is a Monday our car is color coding, I don't have any car to use. While our Ob-gyn's clinic is still in the afternoon.

At 7:00am while having breakfast, Michelle went to the CR to pee. During that time, she saw blood and she cried. She was so scared on what's going to happen. Knowing that she was about to give birth, she took a bath and we rushed to the hospital.

When we arrived in the hospital we went straight to the delivery room. It was already 8:30 that time. While inside the delivery room, Michelle was able to talk to our Ob-gyn Dra. Letty Chua. She was advised to stay in the hospital because she thinks Michelle will definitely panic if every she felt anything. Michelle was discharged from the delivery room at 12:00pm after we got a room (room 210).

The whole day Michelle was in labor. We are not able to sleep the whole night. For contractions are very strong. Whenever she have contraction, she will feel back pain. I would massage her back. It was really a sleepless night. I sat on a chair beside Michelle the whole night. When resident doctors visited Michelle, she was asked if she could still tolerate the pain. She would always say yes. Michelle rated the pain 5/10. She really insists that she wanted to have a Lamaze delivery.

The following morning when Dra. Letty Chua visited Michelle, she asked if she can still tolerate the pain. Michelle answered she don't know. Dra. Letty Chua insisted that she went in to the DR already. It was 9:00am and her cervix is already 4cm.

I stayed with her in the labor room the whole time. At 12:00pm Michelle finally gave up and decided to have epidural. For she cannot tolerate the pain anymore. I told her that if ever the epidural will be painful, it is just a one time pain compared to hours of pain from her contractions. At 1:00pm Dra Lety Chua visited her and pop her water bag. Used oxcitocin to help her cervix to dilate faster. At this time Michelle doesn't feel any pain anymore for she already had anesthesia.

After having my lunch, I went back at 3pm. Michelle is just at 6cm. And until 6:00pm she was still at 6cm. We saw resident doctors running around and texting but we don't know whats happening. I was looking at the heart rate of baby from the monitor and I saw that it went to as low as 50 bps. Though doctors and nurses did not tell us anything. When Dra. Lety Chua arrived, she told us that there was a problem with the heartbeat of baby. When she put oxcitocin, the baby's heartbeat will drop. That is why they removed it immediately. Michelle is still stuck at 6cm which should not be the case. She set our expectation that Michelle might have an emergency CS if putting back the oxcitocin will still drop baby's heartbeat. When it was put back, Dra Lety Chua stimulated the baby by touching Michelle's tummy. The baby responded nicely and the heartbeat went up constantly. She told Michelle to push - she became 7cm that time. Instructed her to push again and instantly it because 8cm then 9cm. At that time Michelle was rushed to the delivery room.

Almost 20 minutes in the labor room, no progress was made because Michelle cannot push very well. I was called to go in the labor room. As soon as I entered the delivery room, Dra Lety Chua told me to look at the baby. I saw our baby's head. He was really about to come out. I was advised to talk to Michelle to push. I whispered to Michelle "Konti nalang, nakita ko na si baby may buhok sya". Helped Michelle push while talking to her. At one point Dra. Lety Chua said that she will have to use forceps because baby really cannot come out. After few more pushes Justin was delivered safely with the help of forceps. Justin was facing up that is why he was hard to deliver.

When Justin came out, I cannot explain my feelings. It was more than happiness. Finally Im father. When I saw Justin, he did not cry until he was being checked and cleaned by the pediatrician. I recorded his first cry and shoot a lot of pictures as if there's no more tomorrow. I was also allowed to go in the nursery to see and take picture of our baby.

When I leaved the delivery room, my family and Michelle's family is outside excitedly waiting to hear the news and see the baby.

After all these things that had happened, I know deep inside how hard it is to be a mother. With all the pain a mother would go through in giving birth, now I understand why as children we should respect and love our mother. Michelle had gone through all these pain and I was very happy that she was able to go thru everything smoothly. Our baby is safe and she is safe as well. Im sure next time she won't be trying Lamaze delivery anymore.

With everything we've gone through, God was always with us. He never failed us. Im sure He will continue to be with us and guide as on how to become a good parent. Our Ob-gyn always say "Giving birth is something that will end, but taking care of a child is a never ending responsibility and it is tougher compared to giving birth." I know together we will experience, love and succeed in talking care of Justin.

BabyPlus: Day 124 A long walk at Megamall

After church today, we decided to have a long walk at Megamall so that Michelle could delivery our baby soon. We started walking at 10:00am. Went to 5th floor of Megamal and walk from building A to building B then from building B to building A again. By 11:30am we are in 3th floor already and decided to have an early lunch to avoid people traffic. We had our lunch at Red Ribbon. After lunch, we walked again and when we reach basement level of Megamall, Michelle's tummy suddenly hurts and she said she cannot walk anymore. We decided to go home. At 1:00pm we're already home. Michelle slept the whole afternoon for she was so tired.

Michelle continued to play babyplus today. Just before we went to sleep, at around 11pm Michelle felt strong contractions but eventually it disappeared and we went to sleep.

BabyPlus: Day 123 / Checkup Day

Today is our check-up. Michelle did not gain weight again. Our Ob-gyne said that we need to walk a lot. Michelle is already 38weeks in her pregnancy. We have few more weeks to walk. Baby is still in position and he won't turn anymore.

After our check-up we had a walk at Trinoma. We walked for two hours before going home. After lunch we went to manila and walk again hoping that our baby will come out soon.

Tomorrow we will be going to Megamall and have a long walk.

BabyPlus: Day 122 / Still won't comeout

Michelle turned 38 weeks today. Our baby still won't come out. Everyone is waiting. I was expecting Michelle to give birth late September because she have been having pre term labor signs. Unfortunately I'm wrong. Until now she still won't give birth. We have been walking in our basketball court every night hoping that baby will come out. Tomorrow will be our checkup. Lets see if our doctor will the doctor say.

BabyPlus: Day 120 / A long walk

It's a holiday today. (end of ramadan) Michelle woke up at almost 10am already. The weather is cold because of a typhoon. This afternoon had a walk at Glorietta Rustans. We had a very long walk hoping that our baby will come out (soon). hehe After that we went to Makro some groceries. We walked the whole afternoon and when we got home we're both tired. We sleep early at around 9:30pm.

Today is the last day of babyplus lesson 15. Even if Justin is not yet out, at least he was able to listen to lesson 16. I guess Michelle will give birth this Saturday. (wishful thinking).

BabyPlus: Day 119 / False alarm

Michelle felt so much pain tonight just before we're about to sleep. I thought she was about to give birth to our baby. It was a contraction every 5 minutes but it disappeared after 30 minutes. She was able to sleep after that. It was just a false alarm.

Monday, September 29, 2008

BabyPlus: Day 118 / Almost there

Both of us are not sleepy today because we slept early last night. Michelle tummy seems to be getting lower. Her mom noticed it after not seeing her for several days. Michelle also feels that its getting heavier and something seems to be down there waiting to explode.

Later this afternoon while we are resting, Michelle tickles her tummy so that I can feel Justin's movement, instead of feeling it, I heard a sound. At first Michelle though that it was my stomach who produces the sound. But it's not. Then after few minutes, I heard the sound again. Don't know if it's really a sound from our baby or not. But it's really different.

Tonight after dinner, we went down to our basketball court and have a walk while Michelle played babyplus. We walked for about almost 30 minutes. Then we sleep early again tonight.

BabyPlus: Day 117 / An experience at Sofitel

Today we had our breakfast at Sofitel Philippine Plaza. My membership card was about to expire and we have to use it and claim our free birthday cake. The buffet breakfast was great. It was the best breakfast we have ever eaten so far. Justin is very active while Michelle is eating. Maybe because she ate a lot. We are so full and we had a walk in the bay side. I was shocked that the bay was black. I never knew that our manila bay is so dirty.

Babyplus was played at 11:00am already for we finished eating at 10:30.

BabyPlus: Day 116 / 37th week check-up day

Michelle is already 37 weeks pregnant and she can give birth anytime. She considered full term already. We had a check-up today and for the first time we are the first patient. After Dra. Letty Chua IEed Michelle she told me that "bye bye muna, hindi pa open ang cervix ni Michelle". With the frequent Braxton Hicks contraction Michelle felt for the past week, her cervix is still not open. Knowing that she won't be admitted yet, it was a relieve for Michelle. She was advice to walk a lot now as she can give birth anytime.

We went to several places today like manila and S&R. Still feeling the braxton hicks, Michelle was not scared anymore compared to last week. Her mind is already set that the feeling is normal and there is nothing to worry about.

BabyPlus: Day 115 / Am I giving birth soon?

Michelle is kinda nervous because she is feeling differently. Justin became heavier and the feeling is really different. She doesn't want to move a lot for she is afraid to give birth. Tomorrow will be our check-up day and Michelle is afraid that the doctor might let her stay in the hospital for delivery.

Lets just see what will happen tomorrow.

Justin Maven Lee

The boy's name Justin \j(u)-stin, jus-tin\ is pronounced JUS-tin. It is of Latin origin, and its meaning is "just, upright, righteous"

Maven \ma·ven\ also ma·vin (mvn) n.
A person who has special knowledge or experience; an expert.

A just and righteous person which is also an expert with special knowlege, that's Justin Maven Lee. And thats the name of our baby. Here's the story behind the name. At first when we thought of the name Justin, we both liked it. No question asked. His name will be justin. While thinking of a name which starts with the letter M has a story behind it. Our choices were Maverick, Mackenzie, Milton, Maven, Mason, Maynard, Mackaine and Matthew. At first I like Matthiew most but Michelle said that it's the same name as her cousin's son. We also included Mason in our choices but this time it was my cousin's son name. We also rule out Maverick because it's almost the same sound as seddrick.

Last July 30, 2008 I got a text from Michelle,

Michelle: Pili ka, justin maverick lee. Justin mackaine lee, Justin matthew lee. Jusitn maynard lee. Justin maven lee. Justin mackenzie lee
Jonathan: Gusto ko Matthew. Maven parang ok din
Michelle: Unique ang Maven diba?
Jonathan: Saan mo ba nakuha yan Maven na yan?
Michelle: Dba ang maven isang bird yun?
Jonathan: Huh? bird? Dba yun bird is Raven hinde Maven?
Michelle: Ah ganun ba? akala ko kasi Maven un bird e. Hahaha
Jonathan: Hahaha cute naman e. Cge Maven nalang.

Then that was it. Our babies name is Justin Maven Lee. It was unique and has a nice meaning. I hope our baby will like it when he grows up.

BabyPlus: Day 114 / Justin's comming

Today while in the office Michelle felt that something very heavy is trying to go down her tummy. She just walked a very very short distance from one table to the other maybe around 5 steps only but she felt several contractions. She feels that baby is about to come out.

When I got home today, I pack up may bag and get ready just in case Michelle give birth to our Baby Justin anytime soon.

I never mentioned in my blog about our baby's name. We'll this is the first time. I'll be creating a separate blog regarding our baby Justin's name.

BabyPlus: Day 113 / Bottles have arrived

Finally our baby bottles have arrived from Canada. After almost 3 months of waiting. Hehe We thought we won't be able to receive it on time. Thanks to uncle Robert and auntie Amelia.

Today is the first day for babyplus lesson 15. 1 more week to go and we will finish the entire babyplus lesson. Though we are unsure if baby can finish it. Because Michelle's tummy has been very heavy lately and we think she's about to give birth.

BabyPlus: Day 112 / I'm sick

I have colds today. I cannot go near Michelle to much because she might get my virus. I hope I'll get well very soon.

Our baby keeps on moving a lot more each day. Michelle also felt our baby at the lower part of her tummy. I really think that our baby is about to come out soon. I need to prepare may bag already.

Monday, September 22, 2008

BabyPlus: Day 111 / Awake at midnight

I was awaken by Michelle's shout for pain at 1:30 am today. Michelle felt so much pain because baby keeps on moving . I thought she is about to give birth. I comforted her and by 2:00 am she was already asleep. We're both late today for work because we woke up 6:45am already. Hurriedly took a bath and did not eat breakfast.

Today the whole day baby moves a lot. He seems to be awake the whole day.

Sunday, September 21, 2008

BabyPlus: Day 110 / Wag malikot baby!

It's a Sunday once again. But today we did not go to church. We went to s&r because there is a sale and we need to go there early so that we don't have a hard time in the cashier. We arrived there 8:30am already. There are lots of people shopping which were earlier that us.

Played babyplus late again at 10:30am. It seems that baby has been played late the whole week. Sorry baby, will make it up to you next week. Baby keeps moving earlier when Michelle haven't played babyplus. He must be looking for it.

We had dinner at Omakasee located at Tomas Morato. The food was good but it is expensive. There are lots of different varieties of maki. Surely we will go back there some other time.

BabyPlus: Day 109 / Happy Birthday Honey

Happy Birthday Honey!!!

Today is the birthday of Michelle. We woke up a bit late because we have a checkup. Dra. Letty Chua said that our baby is already in birthing position. His head is already down and we are just waiting for the cervix to open. She gave us an admittance sleep already for the hospital just in case anytime from now Michelle will give birth. Though she said that it's best that Michelle give birth next week onwards so that our baby would not need to stay in the incubator. Michelle weighs 160lbs today.

Michelle had mixed emotions upon hearing what the doctor said. She is afraid on the pain that she might feel in giving birth and also she is excited to see our baby. On my part I'm very excited. I can't imagine that soon someone will be calling me daddy. I know there are many challenges in being a parent, but I'm sure together we will do it and overcome all obstacles. After the checkup we went to New World Laboratory for a chest xray for our yaya. It's a good thing that everything is normal and her lungs is clear.

This afternoon we attended an exhibit on printer. Looking for something to earn. Hope this will be a start for something.

We had dinner today with Michelle's family at tender bob promenade. The dinner was good and we got home 10:30pm already. Michelle played babyplus late again today. Hope our baby won't get mad. hehe

I did surprise Michelle again today. I planned this with my sister. We placed a cake on the table in our room and played Happy Birthday music in my PC. As soon as we entered the room Michelle was surprised. It was a Little Twin Star cake which is her favorite. I love you baby! Happy 29 Birthday.

Here are some pictures for today.

BabyPlus: Day 108 / Busy day

Today is baby's 36th week. He is now exactly 9 months old. I believe our baby could come out anytime soon from now.

We both had a half day at work today because we went to LTO to renew Michelle's drivers license. Her license is about to expire tomorrow. We first when to SM the block to have it renewed, but they did not accept it because Michelle wants to have her last name changed. They said we need to go to their main branch like the one in east ave. We rushed to LTO east ave to have it renewed. My sister go with us. When we arrived there it was already 4:00pm and they will be closing at 5:00pm. They asked for our original marriage certificate, unfortunately we did not have it at the moment. The guy we talked to was very helpful. He said I can go home and get it while they are processing the medical and drug test. They did have a long walk but Michelle could not walk fast because she is pregnant. When I got back from home, it was already 4:45pm. We're lucky that my sister went with us to accompany Michelle. We got the license the same day. God is really good. He always provides.

BabyPlus: Day 107 / Baby went down

Michelle has been very stressful lately at work. Her boss gives her a lot of things to do because she is about to go on a maternity leave. When she is stressed, she would normally feel a lot of contractions. Later this afternoon, she felt something went down near her butt, not sure if it is the baby or not, but she felt something like that.

We had dinner at Bubba Gump greenbelt. This time it was Michelle's treat. An advance birthday celebration for September 20. The food was good though it's kinda expensive.

I started my Black and White pattern project today for Justin. I was able to find a lot of pattern on the Internet which I'll be printing and put on a thick illustration board. They said that black and white patterns are good viewing point for baby because they can only see black, white and red color.

BabyPlus: Day 99 / Traffic Jam

Today was a very tyring day because of the heavy rain. I left the office at 5:15 and was suppose to fetch Michelle at Manila. At 7:00 PM I'm still at Osmeña stuck in traffic. I just texted Michelle to go home with his brother. I just fetched her in their house. We got home at around 8:00 PM already. I really hate traffics but there are heavy flood in Makati.

Today is the big surprise day. We woke up at around 7:30 am and went to church. After attending todays mass. Michelle slept the whole morning because she was so sleepy. I did not bother to woke her up until our guest for her surprise baby shower is complete. At 12:00 pm I woke her up to prepare. Since everybody had already arrived and the setup of the place is complete. At this point Michelle is totally clueless on what's going to happen. All she knew was we are going to attend my friends party.

On the way to Terriyaki Boy, Michelle keeps on insisting me to buy something for my friend. When we arrived at the place, I don't know where the function room is. We first when to the wrong function room. When we entered our room, they surprised us with a greeting of "surprise". Michelle's friend are there with her friends.

The party started by opening the gift given to her for our baby. We received a lot of presents. They are so nice. Now all our things for our baby to use are complete.

I was indeed a tyring day but the fun, memories and experience will definitely last a lifetime.

Her weight gain has been very consistent which is very good. Dra. Letty Chua said that she can give birth starting September 25. After telling Michelle that, her blood pressure became 130/80. Hehe! Michelle was really afraid of giving birth. We'll be going back to see our OB on September 20. (Michelle's Birthday)

She had 2 children which lived at Iloilo. Her name is Otchi, but she wants to be called tita otchi. She looks like very "bibo". But I do hope she will listen to us even if she is already 51 years old.

BabyPlus: Day 90 / Baby's strong movement

Michelle felt very itchy today in her tummy. Baby was moving the whole afternoon. He was very restless. Though according to Michelle the movement is was smooth and it doesn't hurt.
Tonight, I was holding Michelle's tummy and I felt my baby's movement. It was different from before. Before, when i feel the movement of my baby, the shape is something round. But now, it is different. I don't know if its his foot, butt or tummy. One thing for sure, I'm so excited to see my baby.

Today I woke up early. As in very early at 4:00am. I have prepared a surprise for Michelle. I slowly get off the bed because Michelle might wake up. I went to the other room to get the balloons. I placed the big happy birthday balloon in the bathroom together with the ipod video gift for Michelle. While placing the two other small balloon on top of the refrigerator and the other beside her. When she woke up, she was surprised to see the balloon on top of the refrigerator and beside her. It's already 6:15 and it's time to prepare for the day. As Michelle entered the bathroom, she was surprised to see the Happy Birthday balloon and the ipod. I hope this is a start for a great day ahead.

For dinner we had pizza from pizza niro and daddy cooked spaghetti. Her brother was suppose to give her a birthday cake but it was already late, that is why they did not bring it here anymore. They'll just bring it here tomorrow.

Just before we went to sleep I surprised Michelle again by hiding a goofy stuff toy underneath our blanket. It's already late, we'll just take photo tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Honey!! I Love You!

BabyPlus: Day 85 / I hate that smell

Today is Michelle's dad birthday. We had dinner in their house. Her mom cooked fresh lumpia and ordered pizza from pizza hut. We had mango bravo cake from contis.
When we're on our way home, I smell a bad odor in the car, I think it's garlic. I opened the car window as we go home. We brought with us some lumpia given by Michelle's mom. When we got home, in our room, I still smell the bad odor of garlic. That time Michelle keeps on laughing and told me that the odor is coming from her. Because she ate garlic. I never thought garlic will cause that strong odor. Michelle brushed her teeth and gargle with listerine. Still the odor is there. The whole night, as we sleep, I can smell the garlic scent. yuck!!! I miss you baby.. I hope you won't have that odor anymore tomorrow.

BabyPlus: Day 82 / Tagaytay trip

Today after our birth class at ateneo, when went to tagaytay for a long weekend holiday rest. We stayed at my aunties house. The cool breeze there was so relaxing. You can see fog entering the house. It's been a rainy day today that is why there are lots of fog.

Tonight we are not able to sleep well because there is no aircon in the room and it's so hot. At 2:00am Michelle woke me up because she can hardly breathe and our baby keeps on kicking very hard. I went out with her to the balcony to get some fresh air. It was so foggy, we can't see a thing. Instead we slept at the sala where it is colder. That time Michelle was able to sleep.

BabyPlus: Day 81 / Monthly Checkup

Today we had our monthly checkup with our OB Dra. Letty Chua. We went to Cardinal Santos hospital early. There was a lecture today about giving birth and breastfeeding. Dra. Letty Chua gave her lecture on giving birth. It was nice to learn personally from our OB. After her lecture we went for our check. It's nice that Michelle's condition is normal. Her tummy is not that big, but it is wide. Our baby measures 26cm just like our checkup 2 weeks ago. She gave Michelle amino acid (aminovita) to be eaten daily for 2 weeks. This is a vitamins for the baby for him to grow bigger. Aside from that everything is normal with our baby.

Friday, August 22, 2008

BabyPlus: Day 80

Today is the last day of babyplus lesson 10. Michelle is so stressful at work which caused her not to feel much movement from our baby. She is catching up from the work she haven't done when she had a rest last week.

BabyPlus: Day 79 / Ultrasound Video

I was surprised today to get a text message from In My Womb that our 4d ultrasound video is ready for pickup. I was expecting it to be ready next week for they told me that their processing is 10 to 15 days. After I got the text, I hurriedly walk from our office to Landmark. I was so excited to get the video of our baby. I had a 1 hour walk - but it's OK, it's all worth it because I got our video.

Tonight, before we went to sleep, I played the video. Michelle was surprised because I did not tell her that it is already available. We watched our baby, though it was not so clear. I'm so happy to see may baby. I can't wait to carry him in my arms.

BabyPlus: Day 78

Michelle had her stool test taken today. It's a good that her stool test was negative from bacteria. She feels better now. And I'm relieved as well.

Tuesday, August 19, 2008

BabyPlus: Day 77 / LBM again

Michelle had LBM again today. I seems that her LBM is becoming more often. She had LBM 3x this morning and 2x this evening. I'm so worried for her and our baby. We decided to text our OB Dra. Letty Chua. She advised us to have a stool test and take isoxilan 3x a day if she keeps on having LBM.

BabyPlus: Day 76 / Goodbye crowne plaza

We woke-up late today because we had a nice sleep last night. I love staying in the hotel. I hope that I can live here for a month. Haha! We had breakfast at 7 corners. The food was so great. Breakfast is my favorite part of the staying in the hotel. While we are having our breakfast, Michelle felt so bad because she can hardly breath and she feels dizzy. Though after resting for a while, it disappeared. She ate a lot for breakfast. We did not have lunch anymore. We got home at around 2:30pm already.

Today Neil delivered our wedding album. The album looks so great. The layout was nice. But one thing I noticed was, not all pictures we selected are included in the album.

Michelle starts to feel the common sickness for her 3rd trimester, I know all these are normal, but I hope she won't have a hard time this 3rd trimester.

Michelle still plays BabyPlus on a regular basis. Hopefully our baby do learned a lot from it.

BabyPlus: Day 75 / A day in the hotel

Today we had an overnight stay at Crowne Plaza Hotel. We used our free night accommodation which we got from our wedding. After our birth class this morning, we when to check in at the hotel and ate lunch at 7 corners. It's an advance celebration for my dad's birthday. After having our lunch we stayed in our hotel room which is at room 602. Stayed there the whole afternoon. The feeling was so great. We are both very relaxed.

We had our dinner at pancake house galleria. We can still remember that our very very first date was at this place. We had a light dinner only for we're still full. Initially we planned to stroll in the mall, but Michelle is having a hard time walking. Our baby keeps on moving and it hurts so much. We just decided to go back to the hotel and have an early rest.

Birth Class Week 4

Today we woke up early again for our birth class. For our today's session, we watched a movie on childbirth. How labor is done starting from contraction to the actual delivery of the baby. The video was from injoyvideo. The video was amazing.

We also have some floor exercises for today.

Our class is about to end. We really did learn a lot from this birth class.

BabyPlus: Day 73 / Sick day

It was a sick day for Michelle... It started at:

3:00am today Michelle woke me up because her tummy hurts so much. She can hardly move because of the pain she's feeling. She said that the feeling is like she's having her monthly period. I was hugging her while she laid down, staring at the clock and counting. During that time, what's running on my mind was that Michelle is about to deliver our baby. I was so worried because she is still at her 7th month and 3 weeks. The pains stopped at around 3:40 am. She fell asleep and I also went to sleep at 4:00am.

6:00pm Michelle texted me "saan ka na?" During that time I was on my way home from work. She texted me because her stomach is aching. She had LBM 5 times for the whole evening. She loose her appetite.

BabyPlus Update:
Today is the first day of babyplus lesson 10. So far so good. And baby has been very active for almost the whole day. I wonder if he still get to sleep. hmmmm

Thursday, August 14, 2008

BabyPlus: Day 72 / Bed rest day 5

Michelle stayed home again today. She slept the whole morning but still felt sleepy. Our baby continuous to move restlessly. He is so active. Michelle also felt hungry today. She seems to find her appetite but normally feel bloated after eating. Before I go home from work, I bought pasta from Sbarro for her. Today Michelle is so bored at home, she normally watch dvd and chat with her friends online in the afternoon.

Last day of Babyplus lesson 9 today. We are finally half way.

Wednesday, August 13, 2008

BabyPlus: Day 71 / Itchy Tummy

BabyPlus: Day 70 / Amniotic fluid and Baby's face

We went back to Inmywomb today for a rescan ultrasound. And at the same time to check Michelle's amniotic fluid. Michelle's previous amniotic fluid is 5.25 only. And the normal should be somewhere at 10. Today when we have it checked, it was 11.7. I'm so glad that it became normal. With that, we are able to see our baby's face clearly. He was so cute. Big cheeks. Michelle is kinda worried with his nose because she doesn't want him to be "pango". hehe But I think it's not.

Babplus Update:
Baby keeps on moving very strong. Maybe because Michelle is well rested. It's so strong that it hurts already.

Here's the picture of the 4d ultrasound:

Michelle is still in bed rest. Today was her first day to be alone in the house (without me). But she woke up early - the same time with me. We ate breakfast together before she went back to sleep. She slept the whole morning that is why she could not sleep anymore in the afternoon.

Drinking 3 liters of water a day while bed resting, have a big difference. Michelle noticed that she did not have discharge. Also when she pee, it's white instead of yellow.

BabyPlus: Day 67 / Bed rest for 1 week

We went to our OB today for our monthly checkup. Our OB still said that Michelle's tummy is a bit small. We showed her our ultrasound result, and she said that Michelle needs a bed rest for 1 week because her amniotic fluid is only 5.25. If Michelle did not have a bed rest, she might have an early labor. During our checkup Michelle tried asking our OB if she really need to have a bed rest because she doesn't want to. Our OB answered "Wag matigas ang ulo. It's not a choice, you have to do it kahit ayaw mo". Well, no choice, she really needs to have a bed rest.

About Babyplus:
Nothing special happened today but baby seems to be very active for a long time. Maybe because Michelle had a lot of rest.

BabyPlus: Day 66

Today is my mom's chinese birthday. We ate at Tong Yang smokeless Shabu shabu. We got home at around 9:30 already and it was late for babyplus. So far, baby has been responding well with babyplus. And today is Michelle 30th week of pregnancy. We are nearing the home stretch.

Thursday, August 7, 2008

BabyPlus: Day 65 / Hiccups or Heartbeat

Today is the first day of babyplus lesson 9. My pamangkin sedy did hear Michelle playing babyplus. He said that "Why is the drum faster?" This surprised me because a 6 year old child who seldom hear the babyplus sound was able to recognize the speed of the sound. This means that our baby will be able to recognize the sound too. I hope my baby will become wise because of the babyplus.

Before we went to sleep tonight it seems that baby is having a hiccup again. Michelle's tummy is moving like a heartbeat and we tried using a stethoscope. It sounds like a heartbeat. It was such a nice feeling to hear our baby's heartbeat from the stethoscope.

Wednesday, August 6, 2008

BabyPlus: Day 64

Michelle played babyplus an hour late today. Because we went to my cousin Alex's house. He has a new house at E. Rodriguez, near waltermart. The house was so nice and big. We ate our dinner at their house. We went house at around 10pm already and Michelle was so exhausted. Our baby was very active today in Michelle's tummy. The strong movement really hurts.

BabyPlus: Day 63 / Hiccups

I think baby is having hiccups today. Because while I was holding Michelle's tummy, I felt a continuous movement from the baby. It's like a heartbeat. It's going up and down about every 2 seconds. I believe this the the hiccups that they are saying. I always read in books that during this stage baby will have hiccups.

Monday, August 4, 2008

BabyPlus: Day 62 / Strong baby movement

Tonight before we went to sleep. I hold Michelle's tummy and I felt a different movement from our baby. He keeps on moving continuously just like a heartbeat. Would it be his hiccups? I'm not sure. But one things for sure he is very active and he don't want to sleep.

BabyPlus: Day 61 / 4d ultrasound

We woke up late today. We are not able to go to church again because we have a Lamaze class (birth class) today. We went to Ateneo for our birth class. Today was our second session. The class was really great. We are able to learn a lot of tips and physical exercises. After our class we went to In My Womb located at glorietta in Anson building. We are able have a glimpse of our baby. He was sleeping when we had our 4d ultrasound. His hand is covering his mouth and nose. The OB let Michelle take a different position hoping that our baby will move, He moved a bit moving his hand to his neck. The suddenly we saw our baby yawn. The feeling was so nice. Can't wait to carry our baby in my hands.

The OB at in my womb said that Michelle's amniotic fluid is very low. The range is 5 to 20. She is just around 5.3 . She was adviced to drink a lot of water. With low amniotic water, it will also cause the 4d ultrasound not to be too clear.

We will be going back to in my womb on August 12, 2008 for our rescan.

BabyPlus: Day 56 / Looking for yaya

Today is the last day of babyplus lesson 7. Nothing special happen today.

We are still looking for a yaya for our baby. It's getting closer and we still don't have a yaya. We are scared to get just any yaya for our baby. We wanted someone who would really take good care of our baby while we are in the office.

Birth Class : Week 1

Our first session of birth class starts today. Rome Kanapi is our instructor. We had our class at Ateneo University. The whole course have a total of 6 sessions.

Here are some of the notes I got from the lecture today:
Dr. Grantley Dick-Read
Pavlor
Dr. Leboyer
Dr. Bradley
Philippine Association for Childbirth Education (PACE)

We should not have fear in giving birth, because fear will lead to tension and tension will lead to pain. That is why we are being educated so that we will learn and be prepared on what's going to happen.

Here are some guidelines on what to do and what not to do:
- Breast pump is normally used after 1 month from giving birth. Using breast pump from birth of the baby is different when you let your baby suck milk from your breast.

- When giving birth for a first child, the labor time normally last for 12 months.

- Average size of baby for an easy delivery is 5lbs to 6lbs.

- Too much Pineapple, Mango and Watermelon is not good because it contains many sugar.

- Too much Banana without exercise will become carbohydrates.

- Sardines and dilis gives good calcium.

- Don't assist wife when she tries to get up from the bed.

- Indian sit is best when sited.

- Feet should be balanced when standing up.

- Woman should be the one to pick up things on the floor. This is a form of exercise.

- Man should only assist when trying to reach something high.

- When taking a bathe, do not soap the breast. For it will wash away the nutrients.

- Kegel exercise is good - to strengthen the pelvic floor. 10 to 15 times a day.

Episiotomy - Cutting the part between the vagina and anus.

Thins to do this week:
1. Relaxation exercises
2. Stretching
3. List down food intake

BabyPlus: Day 55

Baby's movent are becoming stronger and stronger. When i got home this afternoon. I felt my baby's movement inside Michelle's tummy. It was round and hard. I think it's his butt or his head. Few days left and I would be able to see baby with 4d =)

BabyPlus: Day 54 / Waiting for babyplus

Today we woke up a bit late because we won't be going to church. We are going to attend a Lamaze class at Ateneo. The class will start at 9. Michelle was not able to play babyplus at 10am today because we are in the class. At 11:00am, baby keeps on kicking very hard. He seems to be looking for the babyplus. Our class ends at 12:00 noon and Michelle was able to play babyplus at around 1pm. During that time baby becomes still and stop kicking. I think baby really can recognize the time for babyplus that is why he is looking for it.

BabyPlus: Day 49

Start of babyplus lesson 7. Michelle's tummy is getting heavier. Baby is becoming more active and he seems to be awake the whole afternoon til evening. Michelle is going 7 months in 2 days time. We're almost there. Baby is about to come out.

Do I deserve all these

My baby will be coming in 2 months time. Everybody is excited and preparing. For the past 7 months I've been taking care of Michelle, I gave her all the things she needs, I gave her all my time, my love and my care. As much as possible I gave her the best in everything. Because I wanted her to be happy and our upcoming baby to be healthy. Life has been going very well for both of us. I have made so many sacrifices for her. I get along with her family - as she wanted. And she does the same to me.

Now she is about to gave birth to our first child, as a father, I would like to take care of my baby. I would like to experience the things that I haven't experienced before. I want to be responsible and to learn. - I guess all these won't happen anymore. My heart right now is full of anger and hate. It's all because of Michelle's mom. I love my wife so much. I'm not mad at her. But her mom is trying to ruin our relationship by "pakikialam" in the things we do. I know she would like to take good care of her daughter and grandson, but he did not respect my feelings. I like to take care of my child as much as she would like to take care of her daughter. I hope she will respect me and stop bugging us. If Michelle would really be staying in their house after giving birth, I would not visit her. I would rather take the pain inside rather that accept what her mom wanted to happen. I always give in to what they want, and I never complain. I don't want to have any reason to hate her. But what can I do? Now, do I really deserve all these??

BabyPlus: Day 48 / Baby things

Baby's movement is very strong lately. He seems to be tireless. With or without playing babyplus. Today is the last day of lesson 6. 10 more lessons to go. I wonder how my baby is learning.

Tonight, after dinner my dad told me to go up and check if we want the old baby shirts and things. There are lots of shirts there that looks very new. Actually they are unused. We selected almost 90% of the things. At least now we can save more for our baby because we don't need to buy these stuffs. We also got 2 bath tubs, carrier, bottle warmer, crib bumpers and a lot more.

BabyPlus: Day 47 / Where to stay after giving birth

This was a sad day for me. Because Michelle confronted me saying that she likes to stay in their house after giving birth. I know we have discussed this for so many times already and she agreed to stay in our house for her recovery. I think its her mom who wants her to stay in their house. She's confused, so do I. I want to experience being a father. I want to bath my baby, prepare milk for him during the night, watch him while he sleeps and take photos of his special moments. I guess I won't be able to experience all these. I hate it! I hate it! I hate it! If she stays there, I won't be visiting her. I'll just wait for my baby to come home. I'll surely miss my baby.

BabyPlus update:
Baby is very active lately. He keeps on moving the whole day. And Michelle did feel a lot of strong kicks and movement.

BabyPlus: Day 46

Baby is very restless. Michelle said that baby is moving the whole after noon til night. She said "siksik sya ng siksik sa left side ko". I don't know what he is doing but hopefully when he comes out, he won't be "malikot". hehe

I bought a camera today. Canon 450d. I would need to practice more so that when baby comes out, I can take a good pictures of him.

BabyPlus: Day 45

Just an ordinary day for babyplus. Nothing to write today.

Thursday, July 17, 2008

BabyPlus: Day 44

Baby is not moving today until Michelle played babyplus. Baby seems to be at head down now. (Hopefully) because Michelle felt our baby try to push her lower part. Later tonight we tried talking to baby again and baby moved again while we talk to him.

BabyPlus: Day 43 / 2nd ultrasound video

We are 7 months married today. Happy Anniversary bee! :)

Today when Michelle played babyplus, baby keeps moving on the place where the babyplus is on. We are imagining baby to be a very cute and active little boy.

We had our 2nd ultrasound converted to digital format by my cousin aton. Since its a 2D ultrasound, I edited the video - put some music and a title page.

Here is the video

BabyPlus: Day 42 / Baby is dancing

Before we went to sleep, while Michelle is lying down on our bed. We talked to our baby with a baby music background. Our baby keeps on moving in a wave like movement. When we stop saying a word, he stops moving also. It's seems like he is dancing with the music while playing with us. It was such a nice experience.

6th Month

Michelle have finished her 2nd trimester. Luckily her 2nd trimester was a breeze. Not much sickness and back aches. Though, one thing we noticed is that her tummy seems to be very small. If you don't know her, you won't know that she is pregnant. Here's a picture of her tummy

3rd trimester here we come!!!!!

BabyPlus: Day 41 / Lesson 6

Today is the first day of lesson 6. No new movements from baby. Michelle is so tired yesterday and she felt very sleepy today. It seems that if Michelle is tired, the following day, she don't feel much movement from baby.

BabyPlus: Day 40 / Small Tummy

Today it is the first time that Michelle wore a straight dress - a pregnancy dress. Michelle never wore a dress in her whole life. Her tummy is too small for a 26 weeks old pregnant woman. We thought that her pants might be to tight that is why her tummy is not growing. She also start wearing pregnancy shirts. Hopefully her tummy will grow because I'm concerned about the condition of our baby inside her.

Today is the last day of babyplus lesson 5. We tried playing the babyplus at the lower part of Michelle's tummy so that the baby will move to a head down position.
